A bikers soul never rest in peace. It keeps on looking for new paths and new destinations. Distance doesn’t matter. Hidden, unknown and untouched Pelhar dam is one such place near Mumbai.
How did I come to know about Pelhar dam
I was wandering on Google Maps in search of the river, lakes, dam anything closer to Mumbai or Thane. Scrolled down and spotted a tiny water body like symbol close to Virar. What then? When it’s fixed, it’s fixed 🙂
It doesn’t matter if the day is a hot summer afternoon and there is a good probability of stumbling a dried dam reservoir. No worries. I just wanted the throttle to move as it will move my soul.
Patience and Biker
Left my home around 11:30 AM. As expected it was hot but as long as the wheels are moving it is ok. Little did I know that the lined trucks were waiting right at our gates. 12 PM and huge traffic made the situation irritating. But this is where a biker learns what is patience. All though I do not like it, I enjoy it. The reason is I get something new to learn. I get to learn to have patience 🙂
Rice husk piled up for buffalos in Pelhar – Nallasopara |
One hour of traffic jam and that was enough, I wished no more traffic. The journey ahead was smooth. Took the left turn from Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway which goes towards the dam. Followed a semi kutcha road for some distance. After some distance tar road disappeared. I checked Google Map if I am going right. Yes, it was right. Followed the kutcha road up to the big Buffalo tabela.
A man said Pelhar dam is just ahead of the tabela. Parked bike under the tree shade and climbed cemented stairs of the dam. Since it was summer, the dam had very little water. The most amazing thing about the dam is you get to enjoy solitude and is just around 30 minutes from Fountain hotel in Ghodbunder.
I spend a good amount of time sitting in the small shade of leaves. It was a nice refreshment ride for me. I would like to the visit the place post monsoon some day.
Some of the other historical places which includes in rajasthan day tour includes various historical places like Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jaipur and Bikaner. Rajasthan is an incredible state giving opportunity to the tourists to experience the historical touch as well as the luxurious modern life style.
I value the post.Really looking forward to read more. Much obliged.
